For Smythson of Bond Street we imagined grand monochrome interiors as a backdrop to exquisite coloured leather books, bags and stationery. The international projects were all designed to flow between departments, each area celebrating iconic product through subtle shifts in texture, detailing and atmospheres.
Smythson makes the most beautiful ways to organise a life – most intimately through its diaries. Our approach was to celebrate the history and ethos of the company and mould it into a physical environment that expresses itself clearly and functions perfectly.
The wall displaying Smythson diaries was designed to be visually arresting from afar but also to create a deeply organised and inherently usable retail experience.
Steel, precious veneers, marble and leather were combined with precision lighting in highly detailed modernist forms, set against historic interiors or antiques that allude to the longevity of this heritage brand.
